Barrie Porteous has been a friend of the Niagara Chapter for many years. Barrie is a member of the the Rock Garden Society, the American Rhododendron Society and also was one of the founders of the Georgian Bay Chapter of the Rhododendron Society of Canada.
From 1984 to 1989 Barrie was editor of the Bulletin of the Rhododendron Society of Canada. He is a knowledgeable horticultural writer and a highly popular and entertaining speaker.
Barrie has extensive gardens in Richmond Hill north of Toronto and also in Muskoka. His knowledge of Rhododendrons, companion plants and attention to detail is well demonstrated in his two articles which may be seen in the following links.
