Vineblush
VINEBLUSH: Elepidote. 'America' x R. yakushimanum. Cross (1962) and raised by Roy Forster; named and described by A. W. Smith both Horticultural Research Institute of Ontario, Vineland Station, Ontario, Canada; introduced and registered by H.R.I.O. Flowers openly funnel-shaped, 1 1/8" across x 1" long, at least 11 per truss, 5-lobed, wavy margins. Deep pink buds open to deep purplish pink to strong pink (54B-C) flowers which fade to white. Calyx 1/16", green. Flat ball truss, 4¬"-across x 3" high. Leaves 3«" x 1-9/16", elliptic, convex, apiculate, cuneate, smooth, glossy. Plant medium height, spreading, dense growth habit, free-flowering, 3¬" high x 3¬" wide in 24 years from seed. Blooms late May. Plant and bud hardy to at least - 16F.
