VINEDALE
VINEDALE: 'Scandinavia' x (Cataigla' x R. fortunei). Cross (1960) and raised by Roy Forster at the Horticultural Research Institute of Ontario, Vineland Station, Ontario, Canada, LOR2EO. Named, registered and introduced (1980) at the H.R.I.O. Described byA. w. Smith. Flowers of good substance, openly funnel-shaped 8.5 cm. across x 3 cm. long, with 6 wavy lobes, fragrant light purplish pink 73C with light yellow 162C spotting in dorsal lobe sector. Calyx 2 mm. green. Truss 16 cm. across x 10 cm. tall, dome-shaped, somewhat lax, with 13 flowers. Free flowering. Leaves held 2 years 13.5 cm. x 5.5 cm. between narowly elliptic and elliptic, flat, apiculate, cuneate, glabrous, dark green. New growth tends to hide flowers somewhat. Plant upright, yet broad, 2 m. tall x 1.3 m. wide in 25 years. Blooms in mid-May. Hardy to at least - 160F.
