VINEMARK
VINEMARK: Elepidote. ('America' x R. yakushimanum) open pollinated (1987). Raised by Roy Forster; named and described by A.W. Smith, both Horticultural Research Institute of Ontario, Vineland Station, Ontario, Canada LOR 2E0; introduced and registered by H.R.I.O. Flowers openly funnel-shaped, 1 3/4" across x 1 3/8" long, 20 per truss, 5-6 lobed, wavy margins. Light purple (84B) buds open to light purple (84C) flowers of heavy substance, with deeper colored flare in throat. Calyx 1/16", green. Ball truss, 5 1/8" across x 4 1/4" high. Leaves 5 3/4" x 2 3/8", elliptic, convex, apiculate, cuneate, smooth, glossy. Plant medium height, upright, spreading, dense growth, c 6' high x 3 1/4' wide in 19 years from seed. Blooms late May. Plant and bud hardy to at least -160F.
