VIVACIOUS
VIVACIOUS: 'America' x 1Dr. Ross'. Cross (1961) by Roy Forster Horticultural Research Institute of Ontario. Raised and introduced by Horticultural Research Institute of Ontario, Vineland Station, Ontario, Canada. Flowers of heavy substance, openly funnel-shaped, 6 cm. across x 4 cm. long, with 5 wavy lobes. Red Group 53C-D (R.H.S. Colour Chart). Calyx minute, green. Truss 15« cm. across x 13 cm. tall, ball-shaped with 10 or more flowers. Free flowering. Leaves 14« cm. x 4« cm., narrowly elliptic, acute, cuneate, glabrous, medium green, retained 2 years. Plant rounded, semi-dwarf, branching well, 3«' tall x 5' wide in 14 years. Blooms in late May. Hardy to at least -5F.
