 VINECOURT MOONLIGHT: Deciduous azalea. ("Chelsea Reach' x 'Vivienne Waterer') Cross (1984), raised, named, and described by A.W. Smith, Horticultural Research Institute of Ontario, Vineland Station, Ontario,
Canada; introduced and registered by IH.R.I.O. Flowers moderately fragrant, heavy substance, openly funnel-shaped, double, no stamens; 2-3/8" across x 1-3/8" long, 12 per truss, 10 petals with wavy/frilled margins. Brilliant yellow (8A) in bud, maturing to light greenish yellow (8C). Calyx less than 1/8", pale green. Dome truss, 4" across x 2-3/8" high. Leaves held 1 year, 3-3/4" x 1-1/2", elliptic, flat, acute, cuneate, upper surface hairy. Plant spreading, free-flowering, 22" high x 17" wide in 3 years from seed. Blooms mid to late May. Plant and bud hardy tQ at least -15F.
