VINELAND FLARE
VINELAND FLARE: 'Kiondike' x 'George Reynolds'. Cross (1960) by John Henny Brooks, OR. Raised from seed and introduced by Horticultural Research Institute of Ontario, Vineland Station, Ontario, Canada. Described by A. W. Smith. Flowers openly funnel-shaped, 6 cm. across x 4 cm. long, with 5 wavy lobes, fragrant. Yellow Orange Group 15B (R.H.S. Colour Chart) (Buttercup Yellow). Calyx 0.5 cm., green. Truss 12-14 cm. across x 8 cm. high, ball-shaped with 10-12 flowers. Flor-iferous. Leaves 12 cm. x 4 cm., narrowly elliptic, apiculate, cuneate, bullate. Yellow Green Group 147A-B, both surfaces with hairs. Plant upright, branching well with arching secondary branches, 2 m. tall x 1.2 m. wide in 16 years. Blooms in mid-saeson. Hardy to at least - 15F.
