VINELAND FRAGRANCE
VINELAND FRAGRANCE: 'Scandinavia' x (Cataigla' x R. Fortunei). Cross (1960) and raised by Roy Forester at the Horticultural Research Institute of Ontario, Vineland Station, Ontario LOR 2EO. Grown for 10 years, named, registered, and introduced (1978) by Rudy Behring, St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. Flowers of good substance, openly funnel-shaped, 8 cm. across x 4 cm. long, with 5-7 (aver. 6) wavy to frilled lobes, very fragrant, light purplish pink 73C, throat strong purplish pink 73B 2 cm. edging very pale purple 73D (Mallow Purple), with strong greenish yellow iSlA spotting in dorsal lobe sector and with four moderate reddish orange 178D rays in throat below dorsal lobe, reverse with deep purplish pink 73A ribs and veins. Calyx 2 mm., strong yellow green 145A. Truss 14 cm. across x 12 cm. high, conical, with 12 flowers. Floriferous, Leaves held two years, 12 cm. x 4 cm., narrowly elliptic, flat, mucronate, rounded, glabrous, glossy, moderate olive green 147A. Plant upright, branching well, 160 cm. tall x 120 cm. wide in 10 years. Blooms mid-May. Hardy to at least -200F.
